The global IT security market is a $10 bill.+ industry and F-Secure is present in the segments making the majority of the vendor revenue, i.e. enterprise antivirus, consumer antivirus, e-mail security and URL filtering. The market for security software grows twice as fast as demand for computer software.
F-Secure's market in Japan is rather different from the company's golbal. In Japan, corporate business account for about 90% whereas globally, the consumer segment accounts for 60%. The total Japanese market for security software is estimated to be about 670 miil. euros. F-Secure sees a potential in small and medium size industry were there is still a lot of companies that are not using security software and also needs for upgrading exists.
Their key to success in Japan is dependent on finding sales partners to push the product to the market. Traditional resellers only sell when an opprotunity exists.
