As Tommy Kullberg made his presentation "off-the-record", we will not give a detailed recap of it.

But the figures he gave about IKEA worldwide are impressive. The company has 165 own stores (and an additional 21 franchisees) in 22 countries. Last year the stores were visited by 310 million customers and the IKEA catalogue was printed in 131 million copies in 23 languages.

Mr. Kullbergs views on the four main reasons for failure in Japan, that they naturally woul dlike to avoid:
don't do product adaptation
underestimate your competition
(don't pay attention to) quality issues
sell at low price
