Mr. Chikushi started his presentation by talking about two encounters with some interesting people, Sony founder Akio Morita regarding the passport size Handicam, and Finnish film director Aki Kaurismäki. Because of Mr.Kaurismäki's drinking problems they stage the interview for daytime, but despite that, Mr. Chikushi admitted that it was the only failed interview he had made.
 Mr. Chikushi spent quite much time around the education theme, were he has been impressed by the Finnish eductation system, also documented in the PISA surveys. One big difference between Japan and Finland is the status of teachers. In Finland, university graduates want to become teachers and they have the same status in society as they had in Japan 50 years ago. Questioned which person he would still like to interview, Mr. Chikushi responded without hesitation, Kim Il Jong.  |
