RECAP

The third Golf Challenge between the Finnish and Swedish Chamber's of Commerce in Japan was this time won by SCCJ which had 954 strokes while the FCCJ team had 996. The stroke average of the teams were 73.4 and 76.6 respectively. The play format was stroke-play with handicap and the teams consisted of the 13 best players from each chamber. As SCCJ had 31 players and FCCJ only 17 it was a tall order from the outset for FCCJ to win.
An interesting fact ws that even if the competition was between the Finnish and Swedish Chambers, the field was very international with 22 Japanese, 13 Swedes, 10 Finns and 6 players of other nationalities.
The winner of the individual competition was Takao Takahashi of FCCJ with net 67. Best SCCJ player was Naoki Ikeda who also took the SCCJ Cup with a net score of 69.
Eiji Takagi, the Program Committe chairman of SCCJ had again best gross, 82.
Many thanks goes to all the prize donators, most notably the title sponsor Stora Enso Japan, Wilson Japan, Acushnet Japan and the Taiheiyo Club.
Last but not least we would like to thank SCCJ, and especially Clas Halling, for organizing this event. Next challenge will be held in October, when FCCJ will be the organizers, and naturally we would then make a hard effort to ensure that we have more players and a good chance to take back the cup, if same team rules are applied...;-)
